Listening to that music really helped me and it still does so I want to say thank you because you are one really talented artist. I worked at the station and discovered you music in the station's extensive album collection. I recently spoke with Leslie and scheduled a house concert September 11. Will look forward to meeting you again. Hopefully, there will be enough interest in our area soon to warrant a visit with the band--would love to hear all the keys and sax live once again. Jim Question by Jim Edwards of Forest Hill, MD

QUESTION: Randall,
Your tour page shows you @ Electric City Playhouse 5/7
in Anderson, SD. I sure hope that's a misprint. We're looking forward to seeing you that night, at that venue in Anderson, South Carolina.
Can't wait. Question by Dan of Anderson, SC
ANSWER: Yes, that would be a long drive. See you in SC.
QUESTION: Not a question.
Just to say that my husband and I saw you tonight in Savannah at Loco's. The venue was terrible - noisy and, I felt, very disrespectful of the music. We have been fans since we say you about 40 years ago at Between the Hedges in Athens, GA (we were living in Madison at the time). We have purchased your albums since then, and have really enjoyed your live performances over the years.
I almost feel as though I should apologize for Locos (noise, talking patrons). We did purchase your new album, listened to it on the drive home, and I know I will listen to it again and again. Your music is wonderful. It is one of life's true pleasure to hear you - especially in person.
Question by Katherine Johnson of Savannah, GA
ANSWER: Thanks, so much Katherine. It was noisy but I really appreciated the fans that came out. Loco's has not been known as a "listening" venue but it may change. Thanks again for your kind words.
QUESTION: One more question (don't mean to be a pest): are your first two albums available on CD anywhere? These would be the ones from mid-70s; one had the original version of King Grand and the other I had on vinyl but wore it out, plus my turntable broke.
Question by David Mason of Denton, TX
ANSWER: Yes, but they're in production now. I should have them in a few weeks. Check the website for availability. Thanks.
QUESTION: No question. just to let you know that there's a new radio station in Dallas/Fort Worth: KKXT http://kxt.org/
It's a public radio station but they play a very eclectic list of music. I think your stuff would fit in there. The night show "undercurrents" -- I would describe what they play as: singer/songwriters who are too good to make it onto commercial radio -- like you. And they do solicit new music. If you're too modest to send your stuff to them, I'll be glad to do it.
You're from Jesup, I'm from Brunswick. spent 69-81 in Athens, so saw you many times, from the Jekyll Island Aquarama to Sea Level.
dm Question by David Mason of Denton, TX
ANSWER: Hey, David. Thanks for the info on KKXT. I will get CDs sent to them right away. Glad you're still with us after all these years. I'm doing a show in Darien this weekend and will be
on St. Simons later next month. Can't get too far away it seems...

QUESTION: Randall, I have a question regarding your touring schedule for the band. From your website it appears there's a lot of interest in people being able to see you guys live. Is it possible to tour the U.S. on a small scale playing smaller venues these days? It would be great to see you out here in LA. Thaks for all the great music through the years. Question by Steve Bear of Los Angeles, CA

QUESTION: While surfing the internet this a.m., I somehow or another ran across your interview done with Living Legends of Music. Over the past 30 years, I wondered what had become of you. I was one of the employees / crowd at the small club in Athens called The Hedges below Allen's Hamburgers in Normal Town. That's where I came to know your earlier work, danced to your and Davis'live performances along with the late Terry Melton, and attended Sunday afternoon gatherings at your house in Five Points. I'm glad to see that you are still around and are doing well. I still have my vinyl copies of Light of the Night and That Other Mile, but haven't been able to listen to them for years. Moving day 20 years ago, inept movers and the age of my turntable for replacement parts was the death of playing my vinyl collection. Again, glad to see that you are doing so well. Best of luck and best wishes to you and yours. Question by Christine of Athens, GA
ANSWER: Thanks very much, Christine.
QUESTION: 30 years ago I serendipitously taped a song off the radio, and the words, melody and arrangement have haunted me ever since. I transcribed it as best I could at the time, but I didn't know the name of the song or the performers, and there was no one I knew who recognized the lyrics or the melody (as best I was able to play it). Over the last 15 years, probably at least 4-5 times each year, I've used lengthy phrases from my transcription as search terms in Google, all to no avail. Within the last month, about 10 or 15 pages into yet another Google search, my brain nearly exploded in a massive 'rush' as I saw the phrases for which I'd been looking these last 3 decades. It was your song This Could Be the Worst. And now I've found a CD (Best of Sea Level) and it feels almost like a vital gap has finally been filled. The song is as powerful to me now as it was when I first heard it. But I still can't fully trust my own ears about a few of the lyrics. I don't know how much room this question box will allow me, but can I ask you to "proof" the following? I apologize if I've made silly errors. I'll put my email in your subscribers list and cross my fingers, toes, testicles and guitar strings hoping this missive gets a welcome reception. Thank you for the music. I'll now be looking for the rest of your work.
THIS COULD BE THE WORST.
All our lives we learn of the rise and the progress of man; how he rose out of his sleep into the light of Reason. We learn how we will conquer the world, with just the power of our mind; how all myth and superstition were left far behind. Of all the lies that I’ve heard, of all the cruel, cruel tricks that have been played, of all the plague sent down upon this earth, this could be the worst.
Now the sun takes its turn, while the moon is hidden (and the Spring ......?), and the beast of the ocean is ignored, half my soul is dying. Apollo God reigns unchecked, while the earth man slaves in the heat, but in the night I can’t help it, God I dream of freedom.
Of all the lies that I’ve heard, of all the cruel, cruel tricks that have been played, of all the plague (?pain) brought down upon this earth, this could be the worst.
Now that Reason in its glory, has finally shown us what is real, the few visions that arise are just called illusions. The asylums are overflowing, with those who can’t face what they see, but out here on the street we just smile and keep on walking. Of all the lies that I’ve heard, of all the cruel, cruel tricks that have been played, of all the plague brought down upon this earth, this could be the worst. This could be the worst, this could be the worst, this could be the worst.
Question by Ron of Vancouver, BC
ANSWER: Boy, you're determined! You never know what a song will mean to different people. You have most of it right but it should be "plagues sent down" , "the spring is capped", "half my soul is hiding","plagues sent down"
Thanks for all your work to learn this song. Guess I'll have to start playing it...

QUESTION: Hey Randall
I don't have a question just a few comments.I'm a new fan,I just discovered your music a few months ago and i've been listening all summer.I bought your album Thin Places and fell in love with it.I can't remember being so exciting about new music in a long time.I mostly listen to blues but the Allman Brothers are one of my favorites.I had heard your name a few times but never heard you.I saw Thin Places in a record store used and it was cheap so I decided to buy it.I loved it so much I ordered three more from Amazon, full price too. They didn't have See Through Me so I checked to see if you had a website and I just ordered it from you.I'll be looking for you to come around in New Jersey,i'd love to see you live. Thanks and also I bet your a Beatle fan like me.It shows in your music.
